As a child Baker spent a large amount of time travelling with his parents who were missionaries. The father James Colson Baker struggled with depression and unemployed while his mother Sonia Alane left them when at the age of nine. Baker relocated to Denver with his father and stayed for some time. Baker suffered bullying from other kids in the neighborhood due to of his poor living conditions. His career changed from self-released tapes to being signed to labels. The fame of this Cleveland rapper rocketed when the release of his debut mixtape at the end of 2011.
